In 1898 the bicycle production of the Prinetti & Stucchi company began. Subsequently, in 1902, following the appointment of Giulio Prinetti as Foreign Minister, who would sell his shares to Augusto Stucchi in order not to incur a conflict of interest with his position as minister, the company changed its company name to Stucchi & C. In 1910 he began participating in competitive races with his own team, winning the 1914 Giro d’Italia with Alfonso Calzolari and in 1919 with Costante Girardengo.
